Riccione’s Emporio solidale, a free market for people in need, is moving. On Saturday 14 November it opens its new premises at Via Busseto 10, on the corner with Viale Carpi and close to the Playhall “Massimo Pironi” sports venue. The building belongs to the municipality.

The open day runs from 2.30 pm to 6 pm. Visitors can look around the renovated rooms and learn how the service works. Volunteers and staff will explain who can apply and which goods are handed out.

The Emporio works like a small neighbourhood market, but with no tills and no cash. Families pick the basic necessities they need from the shelves and take them home free of charge using a points card. The card is topped up every month, and the number of points depends on the size of the household.

The service is meant for residents and families going through a temporary financial difficulty.

The market is run by the Consulta della solidarietà di Riccione Odv, an umbrella body for charities. It coordinates fourteen associations and the five parish Caritas groups in the area. Dozens of volunteers help out every day.

Good to know: the open day is on Saturday 14 November, 2.30 pm to 6 pm, at Via Busseto 10. The Playhall is the easiest landmark to look for.
